This Great piece of art was created by Sri. Harilal Karmakar in 1986/87. It almost took him two long years to complete this masterpiece. This is a singel-wood made Durga statue. This portrays the fight between goddess Durga and the demon mahisasur. The artist has come out of the contemporary Bengali carving style and left behind the mark of his own skill and style .Even in this carving work the artist has put a lot of efforts to bring out every little detail from the art to differentiate the other things from the main statue which has created different layers. Sri.Harilal has given proof of his excellency and hard work for which he got state level award at just the age of 22/23.
