- In that same year, following this great honor, Hiralal Karmakar was invited to a ceremonial meet (“Siramany Programme”) hosted by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri P. V. Narasimha Rao, at the Prime Minister’s residence on 13 January 1995. This rare invitation recognized his outstanding contribution to Indian traditional art and his role in upholding the nation’s rich cultural heritage.
- Continuing his journey of excellence, in 1996, Artist Hiralal Karmakar was honored with the prestigious “Kala Mani” Award by the Government of Haryana at the renowned Surajkund Mela. The award was presented to him by the Hon’ble Governor of Haryana, acknowledging his remarkable craftsmanship and dedication to the preservation of India’s traditional art heritage.
- “Even decades later, his creative spirit and influence remain as strong as ever. In 2019, Hiralal Karmakar received the distinguished “Excellence Award” from the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, presented by Smt. Smriti Irani, the Union Minister for Textiles, in New Delhi. This honor celebrated his lifelong dedication to the art and culture of Bengal and his invaluable contribution to the nation’s traditional craft heritage.
Throughout his lifelong artistic journey, Artist Hiralal Karmakar has received numerous awards, honors, and recognitions from the Government of India, the Government of West Bengal, and many cultural organizations across the country. His remarkable talent, humility, and dedication have earned him not only institutional honors but also the deep respect and admiration of art lovers, scholars, and fellow artisans.
Today, his name stands as a symbol of devotion, discipline, and creative excellence—a true guardian of Bengal’s traditional art. Through his works and teachings, Hiralal Karmakar continues to inspire generations, ensuring that the timeless heritage of Bankura’s craftsmanship lives on in the hearts and hands of many.
